Teaching

My teaching focuses on helping students connect personal experience to social structure, and local issues to global processes. I design courses that make sociological theory usable through discussion, writing, and research-based assignments, with an emphasis on critical thinking and public relevance.

At UC San Diego, I served as Instructor of Record for SOCI 111: Local Lives, Global Problems (Summer 2025), and I have taught as a Teaching Assistant in sociology, urban studies, writing, and psychology courses. I also mentor undergraduate researchers in the UCSD Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program, where students develop projects on youth policy and activism.

In addition to university teaching, I have led public-facing education through Media NOON and the Media Activism School in South Korea. That work informs my classroom approach by strengthening my commitment to accessible teaching, real-world cases, and student-centered learning.
